A new home for Kobe

Hi all – this is my buddy Kobe, one of my favorite dogs at North Shore Animal League. For the last couple of months, I have walked him every weekend. We played tag in the dog run and snuggled on the bench in there and I always got a kick out of seeing the purple spots on his tongue.

I got great news today – Kobe found his forever home…and it comes with a doggie sibling! It’s a bittersweet moment for me. I am so thrilled that he has a new loving family but I will miss his goofy grin and the way he would fake me out running behind the trees in the dog run.

Enjoy your new home Kobe. You deserve it.

I miss you, Isabelle

Isabelle was a trainer at North Shore Animal League where I am a volunteer dog walker. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with her but I liked and respected her a ton. She taught me a lot during her early morning play group sessions with the dogs. She passed away a year ago. I still miss her.

Thoughts on dog walking

King is ready for his walk

A few weeks ago, I fell and hurt my shoulder while volunteering as a dog walker. I’ve been rehabbing and haven’t been able to walk any dogs for a while. I have always loved volunteering at North Shore Animal League but now that it’s been (temporarily) taken away from me, I realize even more how much it means to me.

I miss the excitement & tail wagging of the dogs when they see me approaching, leash in hand.
I miss their happiness when I take them into the dog park where they can run free and we play fetch.
I miss seeing their amazement at all the smells outside.
I miss snuggling with them and letting them know how much they are loved.
I miss the puppy kisses.
And most of all, I miss helping them find their forever home with their new family.

In case it isn’t clear, I can’t wait to go back.
